Equemauville House

equemauville House

Normandy, France

The House is located in Normandy, in a tiny village called Equemauville, near Honfleur. The original House used to be a Post Office under Louis XIII reign .

It is inserted in a wide and peaceful green garden next to a forest and only 4km from the Atlantic sea.

The Project consisted in created a 40 m2 extension because the Original House was too small for the clients’ needs (60m2 and 2 bedrooms).

Tee idea was to keep and respect all of the original architecture which is part of Normandy’s patrimony while adapting the House to the 21st century needs. The same materials were used to extend the façade (local stone with mortar walls and red/brown roof tiles.)

On the south West facade, a big canopy creates great views from the living room and brings light inside the House. It also confers a contemporary feel to the construction.

All the materials used in the project are locally sourced and create a countryside cosy atmosphere.

A metal suspended chimney federates the living room while a new master bedroom and bathroom were inserted on the 1st floor overlooking the living room and the garden and forest.
