Extending shared Houses

These 2 shared Houses have been built approximately 15 years ago in the city of Sceaux, a Parisian residential suburb. This typology is quite interesting when having a private house is too expensive and an apartment too urban for a family living in a green suburb. Each of these 2 houses is divided in 2 Duplex or triplex apartments, with their own garden and roof terrace for 2 of them.

This extension aims at giving more space to the apartments and a wider living space on the roof as well as re designing the roof terraces.

The existing building has already been built with quite a lot of materials, hence the extension tries to be as discrete as possible, while still being a different identifiable object. The Roof extension façade is made of Zinc, to underline the attic, whereas the rest of the extensions have an exposed concrete façade. All the windows are made of Wood and they are as wide as possible to ensure maximum natural daylight and ventilation.

Because of the several owners and tenants, this is a project that will be done in 3 different phases.
